How do you feel about filler episodes in anime?
For clarification, a filler episode is usually considered to be anything that's more made up content than it is is direct-from-manga content. That doesnt, usually, include when the animators add additional info to already existing scenes, assuming they don't run off on a tangent about unrelated things.
For me, when they fluff up an existing plot/scene, that's fine. Adding a few more minutes of their own content to make it fill the entire episode is fine. Filler added like that usually isn't glaringly obvious and doesn't detract from the whole story. Sometimes it even adds to it. Even if an entire episode or two is completely filler, it's usually okay. I don't mind when it's thrown in there in small bits.
It's when you get to like... 10, 20, 50, 100 episode stretches of all filler.......... shows like Inuyasha, Naruto, Bleach, Shugo Chara! (as of recently) are known for doing things like this. They water down the plot, create entirely new arcs, and all together just take what could have had a really good plot and make it BORING.
I personally stopped watching Naruto and Bleach when they did massive filler ARCs... I tried to pick Shippuuden back up, and just couldn't get into it again. I haven't watched Bleach since the first time Ichigo fought Grimjaw and got his ass completely handed to him and the Vaizards appeared and all that. Those ANNOYING little stuffed animals made me stop watching.
That being said, I loyally watched Inuyasha through every filler episode and still sit here hoping they'll make more now that the manga has (finally) ended.
Anyways, what are your feelings on filler? Do you even notice them?
